After just one season, House of Cards was already nominated for nine Emmys. Even though the show is based and set in Washington, DC, only a few setting shots were filmed in DC. The rest of the production was filmed on a soundstage in Harford County as well as at locations in and around Baltimore City and surrounding counties.

Earlier this week, New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced that NBC's new TV series The Night Shift will begin filming in Albuquerque at the end of August.

Another fun summer movie comes to the big screen today nationwide. The much-anticipated comedy We're The Millers, starring Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts and Will Poulter, was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, last summer.

It looks like Missouri's own Cape Girardeau has a good chance of standing in for the fictional town of North Carthage, Missouri, as the setting of Gone Girl. Last week, a location scout for 20th Century Fox reached out to homeowners in Cape Girardeau about using their homes in the movie.

Dig Two Graves, a Gothic mystery thriller, is back in Southern Illinois to film its final scenes. Directed by Hunter Adams and based on the script he co-wrote with Jeremy Phillips, Dig Two Graves' cast includes Ted Levine (The Bridge, Shutter Island), Kara Zediker (Contagion), Danny Goldring (The Dark Knight), and newcomer Samantha Isler.

After making the mega-successful summer blockbuster hit The Heat, Melissa McCarthy (the beloved Sookie St. James from Gilmore Girls and the hilarious Megan from Bridesmaids) came to Niagara Falls last month to film her next movie, a road comedy called Tammy.

If you haven't heard of Horn Lake yet (located in northern Mississippi, yet a mere five-minute drive from its metropolitan neighbor Memphis), you will soon. The burgeoning city is now the film location of HBO/Cinemax's new series Quarry.

The California Film Commission announced in a press release last month that it has selected 31 productions to receive this year's California Film and Television Tax Credit. Movie lovers, if you happen to be in Michigan, you can now add film location scouting to your list of fun activities to do. As part of the state's Pure Michigan campaign, the Michigan Film Office releases a film location map taking visitors to many locations where movies were made in West Michigan.

Rob Lowe of NBC's Parks and Recreation and Ginnifer Goodwin of Once Upon a Time will star as President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy in the upcoming drama Killing Kennedy. National Geographic announced recently that filming will begin this month in the Richmond, Virginia area.

Space Warriors, filmed on location at Alabama's U.S. Space and Rocket Center and other locations in Huntsville, Alabama last summer, will have its big premiere tomorrow night, May 31, on the Hallmark Channel.To set the stage for the space adventure film, Hallmark will also air its 2012's A Smile As Big As The Moon (also filmed at and based on real events that happened at the Space & Rocket Center) immediately at 5 p.m. before Space Warriors comes on at 7 p.m.

In the wake of the mega success of Iron Man 3, Robert Downey, Jr. is heading to Massachusetts next month to shoot his next film The Judge, a comedy drama also starring Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Billy Bob Thornton (Armageddon), and Vera Farmiga (Safe House, The Departed).In The Judge, Downey Jr plays a lawyer who discovered at his mother's funeral that his father - the town's judge - is a murder suspect.
