In addition to the online location library, the contact and project management system, and the online crew directory, the Utah Film Commission has also enlisted Reel-Scout to build RS Mobile, Reel-Scout's mobile application.
Utah's film locations have been a big draw for filmmakers since the 1920s, starting with the film The Vanishing American (1925). The western genre continues throughout the years to film in Southern Utah with films like Stagecoach (1939), Billy the Kid (1941), The Searchers (1959) and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). Since then, Utah has been the backdrop for hundreds of other genres, including Thelma & Louise (1991), High School Musical series (2005 - 2008), The Sandlot (1993), and Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014).
